Extension Officers Conclude Climate-Smart Agriculture Capacity-Building Workshop in Katete
Agricultural extension officers from all 15 districts have successfully concluded a five-day capacity-building workshop under the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program-EP-JSLP held in Katete District.
The workshop marks a significant step in strengthening climate-smart agricultural advisory services for farmers across Eastern Province.
The training focused on equipping extension staff with the skills to deliver Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (e-PICSA), a digital platform designed to provide farmers with localized climate information, support forward planning, and enable informed decision-making.
The trained officers are expected to cascade this knowledge to farming communities in their respective districts and agricultural camps.
Addressing participants during the official closing, Eastern Province Provincial Agricultural Coordinator, Victor Zulu, emphasized the strategic role of extension staff in translating climate information into practical action at the farm level.
Mr.Zulu noted that effective extension services are essential for building farmers’ resilience to climate variability and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
The workshop represents a critical investment in extension capacity, laying a strong foundation for more resilient, informed, and forward-looking farming communities across Eastern Province.
