Ncwala 2026! Partnership in Action!

The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, through the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EPJSLP), successfully concluded participation at the Ncwala Traditional Ceremony held at Mthenguleni, under the leadership of Paramount Chief Mpezeni.

This year’s engagement strongly highlighted the power of partnership and community collaboration.

Our implementing institutions the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Forestry played a key role in engaging and educating members of the public.

Their teams provided clear and practical explanations on sustainable land management, forest conservation, and climate-smart agriculture, helping communities understand how these efforts reduce emissions while improving livelihoods.

Our nested partners, Community Markets for Conservation-COMACO and BioCarbon Partners-BCP, demonstrated strong collaboration and unity of purpose.

Together, we showcased how coordinated, community-driven solutions are transforming landscapes and strengthening food security across Eastern Province.

A major highlight was the active engagement with the public where key messages on climate action, forest protection, and sustainable agriculture were shared widely.

These platforms enhanced awareness, encouraged dialogue, and reinforced the importance of collective action.

With support from the World Bank, we remain committed to achieving our intended goals.

Let us continue working together to reduce emissions and secure our future.
