EPJSLP Expands Community Climate Action as Chieftainess Mwansemphangwe Endorses CERCC & CERPP
The Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program-EP-JSLP team, led by Environmental and Social Inclusion Officer Mr. Godfrey Phiri, paid a courtesy call on Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Mwasemphangwe of the Chewa people in Lumezi District as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen traditional leadership engagement.
The visit aimed to support the rollout of the Community Emissions Reduction Coordination Committee-CERCC and the development of the Chiefdom Emissions Reduction Performance Plan (CERPP), key structures designed to promote community-led climate action, sustainable land management, and inclusive governance.
Following a successful community sensitisation process, the team conducted the formation of the CERCC, bringing together community representatives to coordinate emissions reduction activities at chiefdom level.
Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Mwasemphangwe officially endorsed both the CERCC and CERPP by signing, affirming their legitimacy and readiness to guide programme implementation within the chiefdom.
