Eastern Province PS Applauds EP-JSLP’s Contribution to Livelihoods and Environmental Conservation

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Paul Thole, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. Lewis Mwape, officially opened the 48th Provincial Agricultural and Commercial Show.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Mr. Thole praised the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EP-JSLP), a World Bank-funded initiative, for its sustained efforts to improve livelihoods, promote environmental conservation, and increase agricultural productivity across the province.

He said the programme continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of local communities by supporting sustainable land management practices, strengthening climate resilience, and enhancing agricultural production.

Mr. Thole noted that these efforts are contributing to the province’s economic growth while advancing sustainable development.

He reaffirmed the government’s appreciation for the programme’s role in fostering inclusive rural development and building resilient communities throughout Eastern Province.
