Chadiza Steps up Climate-Smart Cooking Monitoring

The Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EP-JSLP) team, led by Eastern Province Principal Forest Officer Catherine Zulu, has continued monitoring the Hot Season Energy Data Collection exercise in Chadiza District.
The team visited selected restaurants at Chadiza Main Market to assess the adoption of climate-smart cooking technologies and raise awareness of the programme.
Running from October to November 2026, the exercise supports the collection of reliable Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) data from private and public premises across Eastern Province.

This data will help track energy use, measure emissions reductions and inform sustainable landscape management.
By promoting cleaner and more efficient cooking technologies, EP-JSLP is helping reduce fuelwood consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions and build a more sustainable future for local communities and the environment.
Cleaner cooking. Reliable data. A greener future!
