EP-JSLP Monitors Energy Hot Season Data Collection at Mbozi Primary School in Vubwi District

The Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EP-JSLP) team has continued monitoring officers conducting the Hot Season Energy Data Collection exercise at Mbozi Primary School and households in Vubwi District.
The team, led by Eastern Province Principal Forest Officer Catherine Zulu and accompanied by EP-JSLP Communications Officer Creavat Chituta, visited the school to assess energy use during the ongoing school feeding programme.
During the visit, Class Teacher Kabwe Musonda, who represented the Headteacher, welcomed the team and explained how the school uses energy for meal preparation under the school feeding programme.

The monitoring exercise forms part of the programme’s Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) process, which runs from October to November 2026 across Eastern Province.
The exercise aims to collect reliable energy-use data from public and private premises to help track emissions, assess progress and inform sustainable landscape management interventions.
Through this initiative, EP-JSLP is supporting the adoption of cleaner and more efficient cooking technologies to reduce fuelwood consumption, minimise greenhouse gas emissions and ease pressure on forest resources.
These efforts contribute to the Government’s commitment to low-emission development and sustainable landscape management while promoting environmental conservation and community well-being.

Cleaner cooking, better data, healthier forests and a sustainable future!
