Chikomeni Chiefdom Installs New Community Resource Board to Boost Conservation Efforts

Chikomeni Chiefdom has officially installed a new Community Resource Board (CRB) following elections held across various Village Action Groups (VAGs).
Speaking during the installation ceremony at Chikomeni wildlife camp Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) Senior Natural Resources Management Office Andrew Nkhoma, emphasized the crucial role CRBs play in managing and conserving natural resources.
Mr Nkhoma said that government acknowledges the vital partnership with CRBs as it aligns with the country’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
He urged the newly elected board members to work diligently and uphold transparency in their duties.

And Claira Mwale who was re-elected as chairperson expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the board and pledged to foster cooperation among local communities, traditional leadership, and conservation stakeholders.
And Chief Chikomeni has urged the newly elected CRBs work closely with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) and community members to promote conservation efforts.
The traditional leader told the CRB to help manage the nature resource to attract internation communities to invest the chiefdom.
The traditional leader reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the new CRB in executing their duties in his chiefdom.
The new CRB will serve a three-year term with expectations that the team will enhance resource management and community engagement in conservation efforts.
