Empowering Farmers Through CSA: Tikondane FFS Sparks Change in Chadiza

Tikondane Farmer Field School of Kasongo Agricultural Camp in Chief Mulolo’s area of Chadiza District is transforming local farming through Climate Smart Agriculture-CSA under the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme-EP-JSLP.
The vibrant field day was graced by Tikondane Ward Councillor Ariel Banda, who urged farmers to take full advantage of the support provided under EPJSLP by adopting modern farming technologies.

The civic leader also emphasized the importance of using certified seed and embracing CSA practices to boost production and improve livelihoods. Among the inspiring farmers is lead farmer Sandra Miti, who has embraced CSA and cultivated 1 hectare of maize during the current farming season.
She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture and the EP-JSLP programme for the support that is helping farmers improve their productivity.

Meanwhile, Eastern Province Provincial Agricultural Coordinator Victor Zulu, who attended the event, commended the project for promoting good farming practices and encouraged farmers to adopt CSA to increase production and strengthen resilience.
The event attracted headmen and women, provincial and district agricultural officers, and a wide range of farmers.
Seed companies, including SeedCo and Lake Agriculture, also participated, providing valuable information on quality seed and farming inputs.
The field day served as an important platform for knowledge sharing, showcasing how CSA is improving productivity, strengthening resilience, and enhancing livelihoods among farming communities in Chadiza District.
