EMPOWERING WOMEN TO LEAD NATURAL RESOURCE GOVERNANCE IN EASTERN PROVINCE

Women are taking center stage in shaping the future of sustainable natural resource management as the Women in Natural Resource Leadership Empowerment Training gets underway in Katete for Cluster 2 districts.

The training, organized under the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program (EP-JSLP), has brought together female district officers from Mambwe, Kasenengwa, Chipangali, Chipata, Vubwi, and Chadiza ahead of a three-day training for community women leaders.

The initiative aims to strengthen women’s leadership, participation, and decision-making in natural resource governance, sustainable landscape management, emissions reduction, gender safeguards, grievance redress mechanisms, and gender-based violence prevention.

Each participating district has nominated 10 community women leaders from key local governance structures and three female district officers to champion inclusive and sustainable environmental management.

Training for the Lundazi Cluster (Lundazi, Chama, Chasefu, and Lumezi) and the Petauke Cluster (Katete, Sinda, Petauke, Nyimba, and Lusangazi) will follow soon.
