The Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program (EP-JSLP) has conducted a training session for Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers from key government departments, including Forestry, Local Authorities, and Agriculture.
The two-day training which was in Katete district, was facilitated in collaboration with BioCarbon Partners (BCP) and Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO) aimed to enhance data collection, reporting, and assessment capacities to support sustainable land management initiatives in the region.
The session brought together experts and field officers to strengthen M&E frameworks that ensure the effective implementation of environmental and agricultural policies.
Participants were trained on best practices in monitoring land use, evaluating conservation efforts, and measuring the impact of sustainable farming practices.
Speaking during the officer opening of the training, EP-JSLP Measurement, Reporting, and Verification Technical Officer (MRV) Officer Arthur Asumani emphasized the importance of M&E in achieving the program’s objectives.
Mr Asumani noted that Monitoring and Evaluation is critical in tracking progress, identifying challenges, and ensuring accountability in sustainable landscape management.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the training, noting that it would help improve data accuracy and enhance collaboration across sectors.
BCP and COMACO are key partners in the EP-JSLP initiative as they have been instrumental in promoting sustainable forestry and community led conservation in Eastern Province.
