From Learning to Transformation: Chipoto FFS Farmers Reap the Benefits of Climate Smart Agriculture in Vubwi District

The Ministry of Agriculture, through the National Agricultural Information Services (NAIS) and the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme-EP-JSLP, recently conducted information collection and dissemination activities across selected districts in Eastern Province.
One of the key sites visited was Chipoto Farmer Field School-FFS in Mbozi Agricultural Camp of Vubwi District, where the team engaged farmers, extension officers, and District Agricultural Coordinator Philimon Lungu.
The team also paid a courtesy call on Vubwi District Commissioner Given Sakala, who expressed appreciation for the impact of the EP-JSLP initiative.
Before:

Prior to the introduction of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), many farmers at Chipoto FFS faced challenges such as low yields, poor soil health, and limited knowledge of sustainable farming practices. Productivity was constrained, and farmers struggled to cope with the effects of climate change.
