Launch of Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program

Government with support from the World Bank, recently launched the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program (EP-JSLP), a 63 million United State Dollar program aimed at sustainable development across the Eastern Province over the next seven years.

The project was launch was held at Nyamfinzi Hotel in Chipata by Minister of Green Economy and Environment (MGEE), Mike Mposha

The initiative is expected to produce approximately 29 million tons of carbon dioxide, which will be traded on the international carbon market to generate revenue for rural communities across 57 chiefdoms in Eastern Province.

The EP-JSLP succeeds the phased-out Zambia integrated Forest landscape project which successfully concluded early this year.
