Stop Wildfires. Protect Our Forests. Secure Our Future.
Fire Destroys Forests and Lives

The fire danger season is approaching. Every wildfire destroys forests and rangelands, releases smoke that contributes to climate change, and can affect seasonal rainfall.
It also destroys the forest resources that communities depend on for their livelihoods, food, medicine, and well-being.
The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, with support from the World Bank, is implementing the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EP-JSLP).
Working with traditional leaders and local communities, the programme supports the protection, sustainable management, and responsible use of forests.
Through EP-JSLP, the Forestry Department is helping communities develop fire management plans, raise awareness about fire prevention, and prepare to prevent and control late-season wildfires.
Preventing wildfires not only protects forests and biodiversity it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
These emission reductions can be measured and traded through the EP-JSLP Carbon Trading Scheme, creating financial benefits that are shared with participating communities.
Late-Season fires don’t just burn forests they burn community income and future opportunities.
Together, we can prevent wildfires, protect our forests, strengthen our communities, and build a greener, more resilient future.
