ACTING MINISTRY OF GREEN ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT PERMANENT SECRETARY HANFORD SIMUMBWE VISITS EPJSLP STAND AS THE PROGRAMME SHOWCASES CLIMATE-RESILIENT LANDSCAPE SOLUTIONS AT THE 60TH ZAMBIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR

The Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EPJSLP) continue to attract significant attention at the 60th Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola, following a visit by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Mr. Ranford Simumbwe, to the programme’s exhibition stand at the Ministry Pavilion.
During the visit, EPJSLP Remote Sensing and GIS Officer, Mr. Brian Mutasha, highlighted the programme’s mission to promote sustainable landscape management through integrated interventions across the Agriculture, Forestry, and Energy sectors.
He explained that the programme is supporting Zambia’s climate agenda by incentivising climate change adaptation and mitigation at the jurisdictional level while enhancing sustainable livelihoods, conserving forests, and promoting environmental stewardship in Eastern Province.
Mr. Mutasha also demonstrated the programme’s application of cutting-edge drone technology to strengthen its Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system.
The technology enables accurate estimation of forest biomass and carbon stocks, generating reliable data that informs sustainable forest management and supports national and sub-regional climate action.

Supported by the World Bank, the EPJSLP continues to champion innovative, science-based solutions that contribute to a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future for Eastern Province and Zambia as a whole.
