Chief Malama Endorses Community Climate Leaders in Landmark Move for Sustainable Development
A major step forward for community-led climate action has been achieved in Mambwe District.
Following successful elections, members of the Community Emissions Reduction Coordination Committee-CERCC were officially presented to His Royal Highness Chief Malama of the Kunda people of Mambwe District.
In a powerful show of leadership, the Chief signed the committee’s performance plans and formally endorsed their role, affirming their legitimacy within traditional governance systems.
He called for unity and collective effort, urging all stakeholders to work together in delivering on the programme’s vision.
This milestone strengthens chiefdom-level governance and paves the way for more effective implementation of emissions reduction activities under the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme-EP-JSLP.
It also highlights the vital role of local leadership and community participation in driving sustainable landscape management.
