EPJSLP Driving Community Climate Action in Chipangali

His Royal Highness Chief Kapatamoyo of the Ngoni people in Chipangali District has called on newly elected committee members to lead with unity, integrity, and commitment as they serve their communities.
Speaking after officially endorsing the Community Emissions Reduction Coordination Committee-CERCC at his palace, the Chief emphasized the importance of strong values in leadership, stating, “Let the committee work with unity, honesty, and respect as they serve the people.”
The endorsement follows a successful community sensitisation process and elections conducted in line with customary governance structures, reinforcing inclusive and community-driven approaches to environmental management.

Earlier, Team 2 paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness after engaging community members on the Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program-EP-JSLP, which focuses on strengthening community participation, enhancing traditional leadership involvement, and promoting sustainable land management and climate action.
Welcoming the initiative, Chief Kapatamoyo highlighted its impact, noting, “This programme will help us conserve our environment while bringing benefits to our communities.”
The milestone marks another step forward in empowering chiefdoms to take the lead in climate action through coordinated, locally-driven solutions.
