WOMEN EMPOWERED TO LEAD NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN EASTERN PROVINCE
TheEastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Programme (EPJSLP)has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s leadership in sustainable natural resources management through a capacity-building initiative targeting female leaders across Eastern Province.
Speaking during a cluster training under theWomen in Leadership Empowerment Programmeheld inPetauke District, EPJSLP Environmental and Social Inclusion Officer Godfrey Phiri encouraged women to take a leading role in the sustainable management of natural resources within their communities.
Mr. Phiri emphasized that women play a critical role in environmental conservation and sustainable development, urging participants to apply the knowledge and leadership skills acquired during the training to champion conservation efforts and support climate resilience at the community level.
The training brought together female district officers from Nyimba, Petauke, Lusangazi, Sinda and Katete districts.
It was designed to equip participants with the skills, confidence and leadership capacity needed to effectively engage communities in environmental stewardship, promote inclusive natural resource governance and contribute to sustainable landscape management.
The initiative forms part of EPJSLP’s broader efforts to strengthen women’s participation in environmental decision-making and foster inclusive, community-led approaches to conserving Eastern Province’s natural resources.
